OTB: Soccer player fined for opening beer

Punch line: ?Good thing they didn?t find the whiskey.?

OK, there was no whiskey. Domagoj Vida (pictured) was in enough trouble with the beer, as Croation soccer champions Dinamo Zagreb slapped the defender with a fine of 100,000 euros for opening a can of beer on the team bus while en route to a game. My euros-to-dollars smartphone app isn?t working, but I estimate that to be around $128,000 ? making this the most expensive can of beer in sports. If you don?t count those Budweiser bottles in the Super Bowl commercials, that is.

Coach Ante Cacic immediately ordered Vida, 23, to leave the bus, which left on Monday for a cup game against lower flight side NK Vrsar later on Tuesday.

?The Dinamo management has decided to punish Vida, a Croatia international with 14 caps, with a financial penalty of 100,000 euros for his behaviour,? the club, which have won the last seven Croatian championships, said on their website.

Reuters also gives us this sobering fact:

The average monthly salary in Croatia is around 750 euros.

Meanwhile during the last sporting event in which you participated, you were required to drink a beer each time you reached second base. Go figure.

98 per cent of tablet-based web browsing is done on Apple iPad

Onswipe has released a study revealing that the iPad accounts for nearly all web traffic originating from tablets.

The study found that Apple?s tablet represented 98.1 per cent of 29.5 million unique impressions over 1200 sites from September 13th ? 20th 2012.

The iPad stormed into first place with a huge margin between itself and second place winner Samsung Galaxy Tab, which got a mere 1.53 per cent.

Motorola?s Xoom managed only 0.21 per cent of tablet-based traffic, Amazon?s Kindle Fire came fourth with 0.11 per cent and Asus tablets made up only 0.6 per cent of traffic.

Onswipe?s results reveal that iPad users spent 56.9 per cent more time per web surfing session that iPhone owners. iPad?s 54.5 per cent share of total mobile web traffic is more than double the iPhone?s share of 19.05 per cent.

Apple?s iOS owns 75.12 per cent of total mobile content consumption across Onswipe?s monitored network, with Android taking 22.3 per cent and all others having just 2.5 per cent of the market.

How Do We Get Out Of A Contract With A Real Estate Broker ...

questions

Q: We listed our home with a broker in May. Since the listing we found out through another Realtor that the asking price of our home was dropped $2000.00. We were not aware of the drop because we had not spoken to the listing broker about any price drop. When we called our Realtor and asked about the price drop she denied it.(This was in the middle of August). She was also questioned that same day about signs that where suppose to have been placed in different locations leading to our house the day it was listed.(That where not). She said that she would put the other signs out and put a brochure box on the sign in front of the house. We drove to the listed house about a week later (as we have already moved into a new home) to mow the yard and trim before it was to be shown the next day. While at the listed home we grabbed a brochure out of the box. The price did reflect a $2000.00 price drop, which we were told did not happen. Called the realtor the next day and asked what was going on? Why did she lie and tell us the price hadn?t dropped when in fact she had dropped it without our consent). Point being she LIED?. After asking what was going on she lied again to cover the first lie. This time as shes talking to my husband she says ..Well I know I talked to somebody, Your wife said it was OK.(NOT) Another Lie. We hadn?t talked to her (the Realtor in about 2 months) No communication of any sort good bad or otherwise. My Husband told her to take her signs and lockbox of our door she was done. We are not about to deal with a Realtor that has no morals or ethics. LONG STORY SHORT WE WANT HER OUT!! ?Deb, Glencoe, MN

A: If your Realtor is with a company, she probably has a managing broker (unless she is the managing broker). You should speak with the managing broker about terminating the listing contract. Given the facts and circumstances you describe, that should not be a problem. If that doesn?t help, you can file a complaint with your state?s division of real estate. The Year of the Short Sale | NJ Real Estate Law

Chances are you have heard the term short sale before. If you are in a predicament where you owe more on your mortgage than your house is worth, you may have considered or are considering just such a short sale solution. ?Many New Jersey residents are in the same boat.

That is why 2011 and 2012 may well be remembered as ?the years of the short sale.? Through the first six months of 2012, Fannie Mae (the giant lending institution) completed 38,717 short sales, and in 2011 it completed 70,025 entirely.

To top it off, The Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) recently announced there will be new guidelines going into effect Nov. 1, 2012 for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac that will make it easier for mortgage services to consolidate all short sale programs into one streamlined approach and to better serve the sellers in a timely manner.

What these new short sale rules will do is allow lenders to more easily qualify someone for a short sale and homeowners will be able to know sooner if they are in fact eligible for a short sale.

Summary of Short Sale Guidelines

Some of the new short sale guidelines going into effect Nov. 1 are as follows:

? ????????? Short Sale Even If You Are Current On Your Mortgage ? if you have a mortgage backed by Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac, the new rules state that, even if you are current on your mortgage, you could qualify for a short sale. This is if you meet the criteria for a hardship under the rules: namely, divorce or legal separation, the death of a borrower or co-borrower, illness or disability, or a distant employment transfer.

? ????????? No Deficiency- Homeowners will be able to make a financial contribution at closing in lieu of having the lender pursue them for a deficiency judgment. There are other ways to seek no deficiencies; you should consult with one of our experienced short sale lawyers to learn more.

? ????????? Military Personnel ? military personnel being relocated will be automatically eligible for a short sale and will not have to be responsible for any deficiency between the sale price and the amount owed on the mortgage.

? ????????? Second Lien Holders ? Subordinate lien holders will not be able to collect more than $6000. In the past these second or third lien holders would try to negotiate higher payments from the homeowner.

? ????????? Relocation Expense ? You may even be able to collect up to $3000 in relocation assistance from the lender to assist in a move.

What Your Lender Must Do

The FHFA has also recently announced new guidelines for lenders. Here are a few of the more pertinent ones:
? ????????? The lender must respond to a short sale offer within 30 days of receiving such offer.
? ????????? The lender must provide weekly updates to the borrowers.
? ????????? The lender must communicate a final decision on the sale to the borrower within 60 of receipt of the offer.

Anyone facing mortgage trouble should understand these new short sale guidelines make it easier to navigate selling your home under difficult conditions, provided you have the right professional assistance.

How Solopreneurs Can Be Customer Service Whizzes ...

Katie | Sep 27, 2012 | 0 comments

Customer service is a kind of job that takes up a lot of time and energy. And because of the nature of the job, it involves plenty of human interaction.

Now that?s all well and good for a big company, or even for a small business. But what if you are a single person business, or a solopreneur? You can?t afford to spend the entire day on customer service, can you? You have to wear a number of hats: manage sales, marketing, operations, invoicing and training.

Where?s the time?

Thankfully, there are a number of ways for a solopreneur to provide a level of customer service that matches, or even beats that provided by the big boys. Thanks to social media and cloud services there are a number of services (both free and paid) that can take a lot of load off your shoulders and make you lot more productive and efficient.

Let?s dive in.

1. Use free tools like Tweetdeck and Google Alerts

Social media channels are still the best way for a solopreneur to respond rapidly? to customer service issues. But don?t use plain old Twitter or Facebook to get things done- use a client like Tweetdeck to set up keywords related to your company or your industry, and keep an weather eye out.

You can extend this concept by setting up Google Alerts for your company or brand. This will alert you to relevant chatter on the larger web- third party blog posts, news sites, forums and question answer sites like Quora.

2. Use a ticketing system for customer emails

While you can use your business email to respond to customer queries, a high volume might necessitate using a ticketing system to improve the workflow, save time and prevent you from reinventing the wheel by needing to tackle the same issues over and over again.

A ticketing system will also simplify your life, give you an insight into commonly raised customer queries and save you from having to dig into the archived emails every now and then.

3. Delegate and outsource

Delivering excellent customer service means not only troubleshooting and putting out fires, but also improving user experience and interaction with your products or services. The former can be done by others with appropriate training, while the latter can be done only by you.

One increasingly common solution to save time is to? outsource routine and repetitive tasks to virtual assistants. Create systems and processes for them to handle routine tickets and customer service jobs so that you can work on critical issues. Check out this guide on appointing the perfect VA, and also read this awesome post on Tim Ferriss? blog about how to communicate efficiently with VAs.

4. Establish systems and focus on self service

Whether it?s 2 customers or 2,000, you have the same amount of time on your hands. In such a scenario, it?s vital that you take yourself out of most customer interactions and focus on doing your core job. But your customers and prospects will have questions, and a right to answers.

Solve this by creating self help options like FAQs, videos, demos or other types of content that focuses on answering these queries. Another way to efficiently manage your time is to create systems and processes on a fire and forget basis that does not need constant human attention. Two examples are thank you emails and autoresponders.

Also check out our previous posts on creating a great FAQ or knowledge base.

5. Set up expectations and meet them

Customer service should not be always about software and systems and jargon. It?s simple things like working according to a set routine, set up fixed blocks of time regularly for talking with customers (Craig Newmark of Craigslist does that), setting proper expectations for your product or service and then making it a point to meet them.

?

And remember, the best sign that you?re delivering great customer service is when you have to provide zero customer service.

Conclusion

As a single business owner, what are your tips for providing great customer service?

Dashboard beta leaks new Xbox Music Pass: Cloud playlists and early pricing revealed

Dashboard beta leaks new Xbox Music Pass Cloud playlists and early pricing revealed

Appearing soon after Zune's end, we've been sent these images of what Microsoft's likely to offer in Xbox Music. Matching those early rumors, it looks like some cloud-linked features will make an appearance in the form of synchronized playlists, while the service will offer a free half-month trial alongside paid subscriptions. Prices are currently set at £8.99 ($15) for a month, while £89.90 ($146) will offer a year's unlimited access to "millions" of tracks, to stream and download across Xbox, Windows, and Windows Phone. The system's UI seems to borrow its looks from Windows' Metro tile-based style, with a very similar keyboard that appears to be navigable from your Xbox controller. Take a tour of the gallery below and expect to hear more specifics ahead of the big Windows 8 launch next month.

Negative Equite in Rental Property. Refinance Question. Please ...

Business decisions should be based on the numbers. ?IF the numbers don't add up, you can exercise your put option. ?Meaning, you have a contractual obligation to pay the lender and if you don't they can take the house.

When you are upside down by 75k on a property that is worth less than 350k (estimated), it may be a better financial decision to let the lender take back the house. ?Only you can determine if that is your best course of action. ?Remember, the lender is looking out for their own interests, not yours. ?Perhaps you should consult with a Realtor who specializes in short sales or an attorney who can help you with the analysis.

I work with a law firm that provides a free consultation for homeowners who are underwater. ?Please let me know if you would like to schedule a consultation.

Be the Master of Your Own Voice

Being in control of your voice, while singing, is probably the biggest challenge that faces most singers. When you sign up for singing classes in UK ensure that the curriculum has easy to understand lessons which take you step by step to your desired goal. Not everyone who signs up for singing classes does it to become a singing star. There are many other benefits associated with learning to sing. For example, a first class coach will teach you the importance of clarity of enunciation. Once learnt, this ability will carry over to everyday conversation and improve your face to face communication.

Singing lessons are not just about correct singing tips, but also about having the right posture and facial expressions while singing. This will enable you to correct postural defects which not only impact your singing but also send the wrong signals to people who see you. The non-verbal cues we give others can have a make or break impact in our personal and professional lives. As your singing training advances you will develop greater self confidence and send out positive vibes to people. And don't forget that fun is as much part of learning to sing as participating in games.

Training for vocal music in UK helps you to learn to sing in harmony; i.e. allow your voice to blend with another's to create melody. To be a singer needs constant practice and proper lessons polish your skills. When you get live instruction you are able to clear up doubts by asking your teacher. This is especially true for those who want a deeper understanding of music per se rather than simply wanting to learn how to sing. Before signing up, ask the teacher to perform a sample piece for you since s/he is bound to influence you with her/his personal style of singing.

Another thing that you need to keep in mind is to decide early on whether you want to specialize in classical music or in pop or in country if you are training to be a professional singer. A teacher who might be a wonderful guide for pop may not be so for classical and vice versa.

Why Buy a Vapor Shower? | Backlinkarticles

Steam baths have been in existence for decades. It had been the Greeks who initially found out and harnessed the power of steam. In line with them, steam cure many illnesses without having introducing any international chemicals into the physique unlike medicine. Modern research also demonstrates our respiratory system advantages greatly from water vapor. It clears in the sinuses and alleviates any problems relevant to breathing.
Additionally, water also opens up this pores. This is good for the skin as it can inhale and release poisons that may have built up over time. Likewise, just one becomes relaxed when enjoying a steam shower because the tension inside muscles is produced. Aside from the tension, muscle mass pain is also diminished and healed in time.

Before, people familiar with visit public bathing pools, spas or fitness centers just to enjoy this. Today, one can purchase a heavy steam shower and bring that home with your pet for his whole family to join.
Most people argue that it is costly and not economical to accomplish this. Unknown to them, there are tons of benefits to having a personal shower. The first one is always that there is lesser experience of germs if you have your own shower. Public bathing are open to many and you never know what kind of diseases the previous users may have had. Though these baths tend to be regularly cleansed, there?s still no peace of mind that it is a hundred percent germs free. At home, another highlight is no assurance that it?s going to be perfectly fresh but it is a lot less dangerous because you know that are using the shower and may monitor its regular cleaning.
Another reason exactly why one should purchase a personal shower is for the full privacy. When you are with public baths, you usually share with other people. Inside spas and fitness centers, your time is limited simply because someone else will be with it. If you are easily pestered by these things, you?ll do better with a private steam shower. In fact, it would add more force on your part if you were made to rush your treatment.
Lastly, it is much more economical to own a baby shower when there are many people your family. Considering that spas and gyms cost per person, it will cost you a lot just to let your entire spouse and children enjoy steam sessions. If there is one at your house, all of you can simply take turns enjoying the item.
Steam showers cost much if you look at the selling price. However, through some time to calculate your yearly expenses within going to thy gym, spa or public bathing pools, you?d be surprised the amount of you are actually spending. The one-time cost of the shower is sure to deter you but keep in mind that you get to save ultimately. Likewise, you and your family usually are kept safe from ailments at all times.
We right here at luxury steam shower Setting up are proud of our reputation as UK?s best steam shower, water vapor cabin and whirlpool bath retailers along with installers. Why your next 'Passw0rd' might not be a password

Text passwords are unsafe, fingerprints and retinas can be faked. So how do you make an unbreakable password? A Canadian inventor is developing a biometric monitor that fits inside a shoe that he says is unhackable. Doors open for you ? and nobody else. Richard Lui and Bob Sullivan report on technology that will change digital security forever.

    By Bob Sullivan

It's been a rough year for passwords.

First, 6.5 million LinkedIn passwords were leaked online. Soon after, millions of passwords from eHarmony and Yahoo users were published by hackers. These events exposed untold numbers of accounts to criminals, as many consumers use the same passwords across multiple accounts. ?

The leaks also proved something experts had fretted about for a while: Passwords are very easy to guess. Analysts quickly compiled results from the list of passwords and? found that really dumb choices abounded.?The most common phrase in the LinkedIn passwords, for example, was "link." Not far behind was "1234."

Despite years of warnings, the truth is incontrovertible -- mortal users do a very poor job of defending their data with passwords. To add insult to injury, a recent analysis of debit card PINs shows that 1 in 10 users pick "1234." And the "safest" PIN code, 8068, is no longer safe because it was published in the analysis.

It's quite possible that 2012 will be a turning point in the history of passwords; or rather, it may be the point that passwords become history.

For years, you've been hearing about space-aged authentication systems like retina scans and computers that recognize your voice. And yet, for the overwhelming majority of computer users and home and at work, simple user/password combinations are all that stands between their data and the bad guys.

This old-fashioned system has obvious limitations, the most evident being user memories.? Our brains are ill-suited to recall eight-digit combinations of letters, numbers and special characters that are recommended. Sticky notes with password lists taped to computer screens remain common.

Meanwhile, "Forgot your password?" is among the more popular links on websites, and among the more dangerous, as it often puts only your pet's name and your high school mascot -- easily determined from Facebook -- between your data and hackers.

There has to be a better way. And there is, if Carnegie-Mellon University and a small Canadian start-up firm are right. At the school's new "Biometrics Research and Identity Automation Lab," researchers are investigating whether the way people walk can be used as a simple yet secure way to affirm their identities.

?The continuing threats to military personnel and critical infrastructure and the growing national cybersecurity vulnerabilities demand a new breed of credentialing technology, and what our group has achieved certainly puts a whole new spin on things," said Todd Gray, president of Ottawa-based Autonomous ID, which is working with the university on the project. The system uses a "BioSole" inserted into shoes to assess a wearer?s gait, matching that distinctive pattern against an existing record to verify the person?s identity.

BioSoles are among dozens of new authentication systems vying for acceptance in a thriving industry that has gained momentum because of the recent troubles with passwords. Before we describe more of them, it's important to discuss the basics of authentication technologies and why new systems might succeed where others have failed.?

Security professionals often talk about "two-factor" authentication as a way of double-checking to see if a person logging into a system should be authorized. Traditionally, those two factors include "something you have" and "something you know." For example, a debit card is "something you have,? and a PIN code is ?something you know.? For a criminal to hack your bank account, he or she must have both elements, which is a much harder challenge than simply stealing a password.?

Biometric passwords expand the possibilities into the "something you are" category. A retina scan or fingerprint, for example, authenticates users based on something they are, and, in most cases, cannot change. Biometrics have a decided advantage over passwords because they don?t rely on users? ability to remember them -- you are who your retina says you are. There is a dramatic downside, however. Horror films have long exploited the plot line where a bad guy cuts out a target's eyeball and uses it to log into a computer or enter a secure facility.

    Matt Rivera / NBC News

Facial pattern recognition maps are on display at Carnegie Mellon's CyLab.

The newest technologies retain the advantage of biometrics, but don't create the same level of physical risk. They involve "something you do," such as the way you walk, as being researched at Carnegie Mellon. Another similar tool involves quantifying the unique way users type, a technique that's been dubbed "keystroke analysis." These so-called "behavioral" authentication mechanisms give systems architects four distinct methods to choose from.?

Another promising new behavioral technique takes advantage of a skill most video game players know well -- users learn behaviors that become automatic through play.? Later, they can recall these learned behaviors ? they can recognize patterns, for example -- ?without having to think about them. Researchers at Stanford and Northwestern are working on a system that would "teach" users to recognize a pattern of dots in a puzzle-like picture, then have that puzzle serve as a password. As writer Devin Coldewey notes, the most secure password might be the one a user doesn?t have to remember.

Marty Jost, who works in Symantec Corp.'s authentication group, says he thinks behavioral techniques offer the most promise for next-generation "passwords."

"Biometrics have been around a long time, but have historically tended to be unreliable. Just when you need it most, your fingerprints are dirty and they don't read right, for example. That's what's held it back," he said. "The key to success is providing a second factor without making it difficult to use. When you try to use an exotic method, it becomes a different problem, such as a customer service problem or a user satisfaction problem."

Symantec is concentrating on behavioral techniques that don't require dramatic changes by users. For a while, token-based authentication procedures were all the rage -- banks and corporations gave users small gadgets that provided temporary passwords to prove the person logging in satisfied the "something you have" requirement -- but users often misplaced them. So now, companies like Symantec are increasingly using cell phones as tokens. A simple text message or phone call sent to an employee?s phone serves as a second authenticating factor.

"Users are much less likely to lose their phones," Jost said.

Symantec also concentrates on back-end behavioral techniques, such as observing the kind of activities the user is attempting. A user who normally logs in from New York but suddenly appears to be logging in from Hong Kong is flagged for extra security challenges. Similarly, a user who usually transfers small dollar amounts from one account to another is flagged if her or she ?suddenly requests a $10,000 transfer.

"Behavioral data over time develop a profile," he said. ?We can analyze these patterns without having to involve the user.?

Jost is pessimistic about what he calls "exotic" login tools for mass audiences, because even a small failure rate can create a big problem for consumer brands.

"If you are a bank and you?ve done something exotic, if it?s not working for 1 percent of people, that's a lot of people,? he said. ?We try to strike that balance between strength and usability. ? We do things that make the activity safer for people without them necessary even knowing about it."

A user?s tolerance for taking extra security precautions depends on motivation. Some "exotic" methods are already in use today where circumstances encourage their use. In high-crime areas of Brazil, for example, "vein printing" machines that detect blood flow patterns in the palm of a user?s hand have been deployed. In the U.S., where ATM theft rates in the U.S. are not published by banks, the American Banking Association recently said that a successful ATM crime nets more than 10 times the cash as a traditional bank hold-up, and it hopes U.S. banks adopt one or more advanced ATM protection technologies.?

Meanwhile, facial- and voice-recognition systems like Samsung?s ?Face Unlock,? and Apple?s Siri mean consumers are getting used to biometrics in their everyday mobile lives, and they might be more tolerant of similarly imperfect technologies at work and at home.

Avivah Litan, a security expert at the consulting firm Gartner, thinks that the move to mobile computing holds the key to the future of passwords.? As users perform more and more critical functions with their mobile device ? such as mobile banking ? authentication methods will have to change with the times. So-called ?out-of-band? authentication techniques, like text messages sent to web users warning that their accounts have been accessed, are clumsy to use in concert with mobile banking. So Litan thinks that, finally, mobile users will tolerate a biometric technique that they are already very comfortable with ? talking.

?I do think voice has a real shot now,? she said. ?Who wants to carry around a token that might weigh more than your iPhone??

The big hurdle with voice printing is ?enrollment,? or getting an initial clean version of a users? voice that?s used for comparison purposes later. Techniques for mass enrollment are still under development, but cell phone carriers are in a unique position to do this easily when they sell new phones, Litan noted.

?It would be easy for them,? she said. ?But there are plenty of other ways this could be accomplished.?

But despite the technological advances, the crime and all those leaked passwords, are passwords really on the way out?? Jost isn't so sure.

"I certainly think the awareness of the problem is rapidly growing," he said. "It's quite easy to guess (passwords) ? and by using other types of systems you can overcome that problem. Is this a turning point or not? I'm not really sure. But I hope so. It is a problem that gets bigger and bigger."

Pakistan 'Day of Love' protests over film turn deadly

Hundreds protest against an anti-Islam film in Pakistan by setting a cinema on fire on a day the Pakistani government has called for peaceful demonstrations. NBCNews.com's Dara Brown reports.

By NBC News staff and wire reports

Updated at 1:10 p.m. ET: ISLAMABAD, Pakistan --?Protests by tens of thousands of Pakistanis infuriated by an anti-Islam film descended into deadly violence on Friday, with police firing tear gas and live ammunition in an attempt to subdue rioters who hurled rocks and set fire to buildings in some cities.

NBC News reported that 12 people died in Karachi with another three dead in Peshawar during the protests. More than 100 people were injured.

Friday had been declared a national holiday by Pakistan's government so people could rally against the video.

There were also protests in at least half a dozen other countries, with American flags and effigies of President Barack Obama burned.

Mohammad Amir, a driver for a Pakistani television station, was the first to die in Pakistan.

He was killed when bullets hit his vehicle in the northwest city of Peshawar, said Kashif Mahmood, a reporter for ARY TV who was also sitting in the car at the time.

The TV channel showed footage of Amir at the hospital as doctors tried to save him. It also showed the windshield of the vehicle, shattered by several gunshots.?Police could not immediately be reached for comment about the death of Amir.

In Karachi, armed protesters among a group of 15,000 fired on police, killing one and wounding another, police officer Ahmad Hassan said. The crowd also burned two cinemas and a bank, he said.?

The film denigrating the Prophet Muhammad has sparked unrest in many parts of the Muslim world over the past 10 days.?A United Nations official said prior to Friday's deaths that about 30 people, including the U.S. ambassador to Libya, had been killed in the violence.

Much of the anger has been directed at the U.S. government even though the film was privately produced in the U.S. and American officials have criticized it for insulting Muslims.

Slain ambassador's mom: 'He was trying to do something much bigger'

Western diplomatic missions throughout the Muslim world tightened security, with some closing down on expectation of big protests after Friday prayers.?Cartoons mocking the Prophet Muhammad published in a French magazine on Wednesday were expected to compound the anger.

French officials have ordered extra security around the country and at its embassies around the world after a satirical magazine published cartoons ridiculing the Prophet Muhammad. ?NBC's Michelle Kosinski reports from Paris.

Pakistan's government had encouraged people to protest peacefully Friday, which it described as the "Day of Love for the Prophet Muhammad."

"An attack upon the Holy Prophet is an attack on the whole 1.5 billion Muslims. Therefore, this is something unacceptable," Pakistani Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf said in a speech to politicians and religious leaders.

Akbar Saeed Farooqi, spokesman for a religious organization that helped organize demonstrations, said, "our heart is crying bloody tears. We can bear everything but disrespect to our Prophet and Quran," he added.

Crowds of angry protesters showed up in Kabul, Afghanistan and Jakarta, Indonesia. The violent uprising followed a deadly weekend marking the deaths of eight International Security Assistance Force members. NBC's Atia Abawi reports.

Several hundred protesters ransacked the two cinemas in Peshawar and set them ablaze.?A similar number of protesters also torched a toll booth on the outskirts of the capital, Islamabad. Police fired tear gas at the angry crowds in both cities.

Analysis: 'Manufactured outrage' behind Muslim protests

On Thursday in Islamabad, about 1,000 stone-throwing protesters had clashed with police as they tried to force their way to the U.S. Embassy.

At the consulate where four Americans died security consisted of one U.S. regional security officer and a local militia. Ambassador Chris Stevens often had little personal security detail. NBC's Lisa Myers reports.

The U.S. Embassy in Pakistan has been running television advertisements, one featuring Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, saying the government had nothing to do with the film.

    Protests in the Muslim world
Protests went off peacefully in the Arab world, where last week several embassies were attacked and the U.S. envoy to Libya was killed in an initial burst of unrest over the film.

A few dozen Egyptians protested near the French embassy in Cairo, but were kept away from the premises by police deployed in large numbers to avoid a repeat of violence at the U.S. embassy last week.

In Indonesia, which has?the world's biggest Muslim population,?the U.S. and French embassies were closed in Jakarta Friday.

Lebanon's Hezbollah-run al-Manar television showed thousands of people waving Lebanese and yellow Hezbollah flags as they marched past the Roman ruins of Baalbek and shouted slogans such as "Death to America, death to those who insult the Prophet".

Diplomatic missions in the Afghan capital, Kabul, were on lockdown.

Police in Kabul said they had been in contact with religious and community leaders to try to prevent violence.

"There are some angry demonstrators who will encourage people to violence," senior police officer Mohammad Zahir told Reuters. "There will also be Taliban influence in demonstrations too and they may attack the U.S. and other embassies."

Protests in Kabul and the northern city of Mazar-e-Sharif only attracted a few hundred people and no violence was reported, but a cleric told one crowd: "If you kill Americans, it's legal and allowable."

Pakistan added to growing no-go list for Americans

The cartoons in France's Charlie Hebdo satirical weekly have provoked relatively little street anger, although about 100 Iranians demonstrated outside the French Embassy in Tehran.

    Arshad Arbab / EPA

Images of daily life, political pursuits, religious rites and deadly violence.

In Yemen, Western embassies in the capital Sanaa tightened security, fearing the cartoons could lead to more unrest after crowds attacked the U.S. mission there last week over the anti-Islam film.

In Tunisia, the birthplace of the Arab Spring revolts, the Islamist-led government decreed a ban on protests planned on Friday against the cartoons.?

An Islamist activist called for attacks in France to avenge the perceived insult to Islam by the "slaves of the cross."

In a statement before her meeting with Tunisian Foreign Minister Rafik Abdessalem, Clinton said she and the president are continuing to monitor events around the world closely in the wake of the attacks and protests on American diplomatic posts.

"We've taken a number of steps around the world to augment security and to protect our personnel at diplomatic posts," Clinton said.? In Tunisia, where the embassy and an American school were damaged, Clinton said the government is helping secure the locations and she stressed the importance of bringing those responsible for the assault to justice.

    /

Protests ignited by a controversial film that ridicules Islam's Prophet Muhammad spread throughout Muslim world.

About 10,000 Islamists gathered in the Bangladeshi capital, Dhaka, after Friday prayers, chanting slogans and burning U.S. and French flags and an effigy of Obama.

In Libya, where militias that helped overthrow Moammar Gadhafi still wield much power, the foreign minister offered a further apology for U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens' death to visiting U.S. Deputy Secretary of State William Burns on Thursday.

Around 30,000 Libyans marched through the eastern city of Benghazi on Friday in an unprecedented protest to demand the disbanding of powerful militias in the wake of last week's attack.

NBC News' Fakhar Rehman, Catherine Chomiak and Andy Eckardt,?The Associated Press and Reuters contributed to this report.
